German Unix User Group (GUUG)



This icon tells you whether you are using the secure SSL server (closed lock) or the normal HTTP server (open lock). By clicking on this icon you can switch servers.
By clicking on this icon you can switch to the print version of this page. To go back to the normal view use the Back button of your browser.
This icon shows the current language (flag in front) and the language you can switch to (flag in back) if you click on the icon. If one of the flags is grayed out, the page is only available in one language.

For many but not all pages there is a German and an English version. The server will automatically detect which language preferences you have set in your browser and send you the right version. You can switch versions temporarily by clicking on the flag icon.


The layout was developed for modern browsers which support cascading style sheets (CSS). Even so you can use old and text-mode browsers to see and do everything but it might not look that well everywhere.


For GUUG staff (and in the near future also for GUUG members) there are accounts that allow access to some special information and options. Please ask if you need an account.

The login only works properly if you have enabled cookies in your browser. The cookie will be deleted once your browser session is closed. You don't need cookies for normal site operation.

Technical stuff

These web pages use Apache und mod_perl. Much of the functionality is due to Embperl and XSLT. PostgreSQL is used as a database backend.


This web site doesn't use cookies as long as you don't try to login. For registered users cookies are used when you are logged in.
